Hey, there, it’s Insurrection Wednesday! Erick Erickson summed it up nicely yesterday:
Well, everyone has been saying she’s gotten on her high horse. In Washington, people have been referring to her as President Pelosi. Obama seemingly has decided to smack her down. But he probably did not expect Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN) to admit it on the radio.
Captain Ed provides the audio from Tennessee’s finest, Jim Cooper — the representative for Vanderbilt’s congressional district, actually — speaking with Liberadio (with the extremely…”progressive” Freddie O’Connell and Mary Mancini, the latter of whom Mike’s been sparring with lately):
Really tight message management, no? You can always count on Tennessee for that.
The Captain also factors in the distaste and brewing rebellion coming from Blue Dogs and the New Democratic Coalition who plan to send Steny Hoyer a letter about barring The House Madame’s practice of containing the bill writing process to the House leadership clique, over the traditional committee / sub-committee process. He notes:
The rebellion is still rather small, if The Hill’s numbers are correct. So far, it’s only a quarter of her caucus. Still, Pelosi’s dictatorial rule insults more people than it benefits, and this could snowball into a real rebellion against her leadership if it continues.
Deporting Nancy Pelosi to some terrible House policy dungeon benefits not only the image of Obama’s bipartisan intentions, but also would remove a huge hurdle to pushing legislation on his terms through the House. Since that odd, brief love affair the media had with her (possibly because she brought all those kids up with her to the podium?), America seems to have relegated her back to her traditional post with Harry Reid:
Obama’s wise to marginalize (exorcise?) her, and even the public attack may work to his advantage. I mean, nobody really likes her. It ought to curry good will among almost everybody on the Hill. I’m not sure which Power Ranger this makes Barack, though.
