“I am the face of post-racial America. Deal with it Cate Blanchett.”

by Katherine Miller on January 12, 2009

There are two reasons people tolerate the Golden Globes and those reasons are that the awards don’t really count and everybody gets drunk by the end of the night. Captain Ed may not have liked last night’s acceptance speeches, but I did, starting first and foremost with Tracy Morgan’s glorious 30 Rock acceptance speech:

And even concluding with Tina Fey’s, though I will grant that typically her acceptance speeches achieve a better balance of classy and funny. But, hey, she did speak a great truth: Whenever you start feeling too good about yourself, they have this thing called the internet.

Yes, he was. And to be honest, your sentence comes off as sounding like a non-native English speaker.

He doesn’t. It’s a joke.

I guess not everyone’s accepted post-racial America.

Just to be clear, things were getting a little uncomfortable up in here, so I did a little comment moderation.

(And, for real, I love Tracy Morgan and especially Tracy Jordan [and his kids, Tracy Jordan Jr. and George Foreman])

A lot of these comments lack a sense of humor. Kate Blanchett was just a funny name drop. Does he hate Kate Blanchett? No. Was he speaking English? Yes. And you know what? His use of language seems more soulful and intuitive than some of the people who’ve left comments here. Stoutcat and Martha sound like robots. Bleep, blop, blorp.
