Vanderbilt University has something in common with Timothy Geithner

by Mike Warren on March 20, 2009

According to the Tennessean, VU owes the nearby city of Franklin over $14,000 in back taxes.

The city of Franklin has posted the names of over 400 individuals and businesses that allegedly owe 2007 taxes.

Among the businesses listed as owing delinquent taxes is Vanderbilt University, which owns a medical building at 2105 Edward Curd Lane. The university owes the city $14,235, according to Franklin’s Web site. That amount doesn’t include penalties or interest.

This is interesting isasmuch as Vanderbilt’s been going through some financial and PR problems lately. $14,000 ain’t that much in the long run, but this can’t be good for the university’s image. Who wants to bet it was TurboTax this time, too?
