Blackfive, my favorite milblog, has some videos to show the difference between support for former president George W. Bush and current president Barack Obama. The difference is astounding.
I know, these circumstances may be different, but notice how the only folks clapping for Obama in that first video are Gibbs and the other suits with him. The men and women in uniform (minus the high-level officer)? Not exactly showing the love. It’s an interesting difference which I think reflects on the general attitudes toward the military between the two presidents. If there’s one interest group a president should probably be interested in pleasing, it’s the military. They’re the ones through which you “protect the Constitution.”
